Easter is a fabulous time to visit North Devon and staying on Exmoor. The unspoilt countryside is stunning all year round, but in spring it really is something special. The woodlands are blanketed with the early spring flowers, fields are dotted with newborn lambs, and it is simply bursting with colour.
If you are lucky to have found the perfect place to stay during a visit to North Devon over the Easter holidays, then here is just a selection of our favourite local Easter events, where often you will be rewarded with chocolate but also some stunning views and scenery. Whatever your age, you’re sure to enjoy a break at Easter in Devon.
Available at venues across all the UK, The Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts in North Devon and Exmoor offer trails in some quite unique locations with some of the most exceptional views in the country. You have a choice of hunting for clues by either wandering over the sand dunes at Woolacombe, strolling around the headland at Baggy Point (Croyde), following the river at Watersmeet or exploring the woodland trail towards the coast at Heddon’s Valley. This really is a fantastic choice of National trust venues that everyone will enjoy. There’s no need to book. Simply turn up between 10.30am to 3pm. £2.50 per child.
There are always Easter trails and craft activities found at either RHS Rosemoor or National Trust Arlington Court. The Milky Way is already promising an even bigger Easterg grotto where kids can meet the Easter bunny. And of course, The Big Sheep will have their yearly Easter Eggstravaganza.
A wonderful ‘chick’ hunt around the historic village of Clovelly, where all the children receive a map of the village. If they can spot at least 10 chicks that can be found perched up and down its historic cobbled high street down towards the quay, they can win an Easter egg. Bigger prizes are available for those that spot all 15 chicks!
