The small harbour beach, found in the heart of the village, is great for swimming at high tide as the beach begins to disappear and the water moves high up on the bricked walls guarding the village. Relax on the hidden beach as boats float past and the clear water washes up on the sandy beach. Lifeguards will not patrol this patch so be sure to stay safe if you are venturing out into the chilling waters. Only a short walk to the village and other amenities such as toilets, cafes and shops.
Just off the Fowey Estuary, facing south east, Ready Money Cove is a short 5 minute walk from the car park making it easily accessible. The clear and calm water is perfect for swimming and splashing around with the family before returning to your beach towels for an ice cream from the beach shop. During low tide this beach is great for rockpooling, discover the small creatures that populate the lower tide cracks and crevices of the coastal rocky landscape.
Not far from the village of Par, the open sandy beach and low standing sand dunes of Par Sands is perfect for sunbathing and paddling thanks to the gentle slope of the beach. It can be very busy in summer as the holiday park close by fills up, but if you can find yourself an isolated spot on this beautiful beach you can enjoy views of either the countryside or Par docks depending on which way you’re facing.
The picturesque fishing village of Polperro is home to a stunning sheltered beach with beautiful clear water perfect for paddling and swimming in summer months. The sandy beach allows dogs in some months of the year and has parking in the village where you can get a shuttle bus to the harbour beach. A lovely stop off whilst walking in the area, climb the cliff path to picnic on the sandy beach but be careful as it’s only small so can get busy in summer.
Hidden beneath the rocky countryside that lines the back of the beach, Lantic Bay is a dog friendly gem that is often quiet due to the steep path that guides you to the beach. The sandy beach is a 20 minute walk from the car park and driving distance from Fowey village, the toilets are roughly one mile away from the beach. The rip currents at Lantic Bay are strong so be very careful if you’re going swimming as this beach is not patrolled by lifeguards.
