Dog friendly all year round Woolacombe Beach is the perfect location so stretch your legs across the sandy bay. As the tide goes out you have ample space to enjoy the beach as if you’re the only one there. You can either enjoy a walk down to the ocean from your holiday cottage in Woolacombe and take off your shoes for a paddle or walk from Woolacombe to Putsborough and back for a longer coastal walk. There are cafes at either end of the beach for a quick pit stop if you’re in need of a break.
One coastal point on from Woolacombe, Mortehoe is a hidden gem that is slightly quieter and seasonally used for farming. Secret coves and beaches offer charming rest stops as steps take you down to stoney beaches and blue water pools. The walk runs parallel to the ocean along the South West coastal path which is conveniently sign posted for you to walk the full walks from Mortehoe to Lee or the circular which brings you back to Mortehoe in time for a warm meal at the local pub. The circular route is between 3-5 km whilst the long walk to Lee is 6.5km so a total of 13 km there and back.
The headland at the end of the Woolacombe Beach, Baggy Point, is a beautiful circular walk that introduces you to Croyde Bay. From the top of Baggy Point you get views of Both Croyde & Woolacombe as well as Hartland stretching off into the distance. The whole walk totals 15km but there are multiple turning points if you fancy a slightly shorter version of the Woolacombe Baggy circular.
Primarily a car park that overlooks the stunning views of Woolacombe Bay, Marine Drive is also a beautiful walk sandwiched between the beach on one side and the hill tops on the other. The path changes from the tarmac car park to the sand dune path on the edge of the beach that runs all the way to the top of putsborough. Marine Drive scratches 3.5km so a total walking distance of 7km from one end to the other and back.
