Nestled in the charming village of Monksilver, Somerset, the Old Malthouse welcomes up to 5 guests. Set against the backdrop of Exmoor National Park and just 3 miles from the coastline, this self-catering holiday cottage offers an ideal launching point for exploration.
The Old Malthouse is a character-filled property that seamlessly blends tradition with modern comforts following a recent refurbishment that has brought light and life into the property. The inglenook fireplace creates a welcoming sitting room, offering a cosy retreat after a day of exploration. Entertainment is sorted in the sitting room with a 32” LED TV, built-in DVD player, and Freeview channels so you can relax on the sofas in front of the fireplace and enjoy a good movie after a day's walk.
The kitchen/dining room is well-equipped with modern amenities, including a halogen hob, an electric oven, a dishwasher, a fridge/freezer, a washer/dryer, a microwave, a kettle, and a toaster. There are lovely woodland views out of each window from the kitchen showcasing the rural beauty on your doorstep.
The cottage comprises of three bedrooms on the first floor, two doubles with built-in wardrobes, and a single, ensuring a comfortable stay for up to 5 guests. The upstairs bathroom boasts a bath, powerful “rainfall” shower, toilet, hand basin, large heated towel rail, and an illuminated mirror.
Outside there is a lawned garden across the road (the garden is not enclosed) and a number of charming walks in any direction. In warmer seasons, guests can unwind in the private courtyard garden or on the small lawn adjacent to the gravelled parking area. The Old Malthouse is a stone's throw away from the acclaimed Notley Arms public house, renowned for its fresh, locally sourced cuisine and a selection of Somerset’s finest ales, beers, and ciders.
Private off-road parking for two vehicles is conveniently located on the gravelled area opposite the side entrance, across a quiet single-track road. Dog lovers are welcome to bring a maximum of two dogs, with a supplementary fee of £15 per dog. It's worth noting that the property is strictly non-smoking, and there's no stair gate in place due to characteristically uneven stairs. Electricity and heating costs are inclusive, with electric storage heating and a log burner for added warmth. Bed linen, duvets, blankets, and towels are provided, though guests should bring beach towels for day trips. The cottage also comes stocked with essentials like tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, toilet rolls, kitchen paper, and cleaning materials, along with a welcoming bottle of wine to kickstart your holiday Wireless broadband ensures connectivity throughout the cottage. Families can request a high chair, and there's ample space in the main bedroom for a travel cot (not provided).
