Just a few miles outside the charming North Devon village of West Down, surrounded by beautiful countryside, Lower Aylescott is a small complex of six charming countryside cottages. With four two-bedroom cottages and two three-bedroom cottages, this small group of cottages at Lower Aylescott is ideal for couples, friends and families looking for a quiet countryside retreat that is still close to the coast.
Each of the six cottages set around a shared courtyard have been furnished to a high standard and are well-equipped. There are over 4 acres of grounds to explore and roam, an outdoor children’s play area and plenty of grassed lawn for children to play safely. There are also two fishing lakes, well-stocked with carp, tench and rudd, that guests can fish with a rod licence and their own rods.
The village of West Down has its own village shop, pub and church. It is also only a ten minute drive from Braunton and its good choice of pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and independent shops. It is also only a ten minute drive from the larger coastal town of Ilfracombe, with its seafront attractions, the historic ‘Tunnels beaches’ and again excellent choice of restaurants, tearooms and pubs. For beach days, the glorious golden sands of Woolacombe, Putsborough, Saunton and Croyde are also just a short drive away. There are also numerous local family attractions nearby, as well as Exmoor National Park.
This complex of cottages at Lower Aylescott offer a great choice for large groups looking for self-catering accommodation in a peaceful Devon countryside, still close to the coast.
There are good size fishing lakes at Lower Aylescott, they are only a short stroll from the cottages and all guests are welcome to fish the lakes at any time. The lakes are stocked with Carp, Bream and Rudd and as only guests at the cottages can fish the lakes there is plenty of fish to be had.
Set within the grounds of Lower Aylescott is a fantastic children’s play area, where the children can play safely whilst the parents can sit nearby and enjoy the beautiful gardens or even do a spot of fishing. The play area is built like a fort with climbing ropes and slides, perfect for imaginative kids to play for hours.
Set within the beautiful grounds of Lower Aylescott is a charming decked area for barbeques and picnics. The picnic area is set in between the two ponds and near the play area so a perfect place to set up camp whilst the kids play.
