Cottage Overview

One of six cottages at Lower Aylescott Cottages, Royd Cottage is a lovely two-bedroom holiday cottage that comfortably sleeps up to four guests.

This delightful cottage has been thoughtfully renovated to still feature plenty of its original character such as exposed stone walls and wood beams and is equipped to a high standard to offer everything couples or families will require on a self-catering holiday in North Devon.

Royd Cottage has a cosy lounge area with comfortable leather sofas and a flat screen TV and includes direct access onto a shared courtyard. The kitchen/diner is well-equipped and features an oven, microwave, dishwasher, a washing machine and a dining table seating 4. On the first floor, the two bedrooms, one double and a twin share the family bathroom. From the first floor, guests can also access the car parking.

All guests are welcome to explore the extensive private grounds and use the private lakes
( licences are required and don’t forget to bring your rods). There is plenty of space for children to play safely and there is an outdoor children’s play area.

About West Down

Lower Aylescott Cottages are set in a wonderful tranquil location surrounded by beautiful countryside, just outside the charming village of West Down. This small North Devon village is home to a community village shop, village pub and church and is only a short drive to the larger village of Braunton and the seaside resorts of Ilfracombe and Combe Martin. Braunton has a fantastic choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes, plus independent gift and surf shops. Ilfracombe is also getting quite a ‘foodie’ reputation and has many good-quality restaurants around Fore Street and the harbour. It also has the usual seafront attractions and is home to the historic ‘Tunnels Beaches’, Ilfracombe Aquarium and Damien Hirst’s Verity sculpture. There is also easy access to the North Devon coastline and its glorious sandy beaches, in particular Woolacombe is very close and a popular choice for families and surfers. For walkers and cyclists, there are miles of pathways to explore, with both The South West Coastal Path and the Tarka Trail offer miles of car free paths with some stunning scenery.
